177 4). Their existence o n Tavolara,was continuously disturbed by the hunters who
reached the islet from the surrounding islands and the mainland. "Ali day long the
hunters would stalk the goats aver the crags, where they roamed by day, but even
better in the morning or evening they would lie in wait unti! the goats carne down
to the shore to drink, and then they would ambush and attack them; in a single
