Probably close to A. siculum Jord. – Dry ground. – Common in Sicilian mountains, but often

Busambra, Ficuzza, Pizzuta, Cuozzo di Miceli, Etna, M. delle Rose (Gasparrini) (Gussone
1828); M. dei Cani (Lojacono 1889); Pendici N-W di M. Quacella sulle Madonie (Raimondo &
al. 1983 a);?D: Monti Sicani: M. Pernice, Serre Mannarazze, Cozzo Padorno, Piano della Fiera

ES – Dry ground. – First reported as distinct from A. campestre by Strobl (1880: sub A.
campestre var. siculum (Jord.) Strobl), reported for the Etna Mountain (?ex Guss.), but here never
collceted (Strobl) (loc. cit. Lojacono 1889: 229). Quacella, Rocca di Mele, V.ne Madonna degli
Angeli, Monte Cammarata, Pizzo Carbonara versante meridionale, Pizzo Carbonara versante
occidentale, Monte Cervi sopra Valle Giumenta, Monte Castellaro, Monte dei Cervi presso P.
della Madonna, Pizzo Carbonara, Piano Battaglia, Cozzo Piombino (Brullo 1983). Possibly
misidentified with A. simplex. Both herbarium material and collecting localities should be veri-
fied. – R.
