Cerinthe major is to be studied in order to give a suitable taxonomic assessment to
morphotypes, ecotypes and other therms of its intraspecific variation.
Chamaesyce libassii (Lojac.) Giardina & Raimondo comb. nov. [Bas. Euphorbia libassi
                 Lojac. in Fl. Sic. 2 (2): 329 (1904)].
Crepis vesicaria subsp. bivonana (Soldano & Conti) Giardina & Raimondo comb. & stat.
nov. [Bas. C. bivonana Soldano & F. Conti in Conti & al., Checklist Ital. Vasc. Flora:
17 (2005); Syn. Barkhausia purpurea Biv. 1816;Crepis purpurea (Biv.) Steudel
(1821), non M. Bieb. (1808); Barkhausia bivonana Rchb. (1829), nom. illeg.; Crepis
                 purpurea Guss. (1844)].
Cyclamen hederifolium var. polii (Delle Chiaje) Giardina & Raimondo comb. nov. [Bas.
                 C. neapolitanum Ten. var. polii (Delle Chiaje) Ces., Passer. & Gibelli, Comp. Fl. Ital.

Erica multiflora subsp. hyblaea Domina & Raimondo subsp. nov.
Diagnosis – Differt a E. multiflora L. subsp. multiflora petalis 6-8 non 4-6 mm lon-
gis, pedicellis 12-18 non 8-12 mm longis, antheris 1.5-2 non 1-1.3 mm longis, foliis
                 pubescentibus non glabrescentibus.
Holotypus: Valle dell’Anapo near Pantalica, common on limestone rocks, 37° 08’
                 33’’ N 15° 01’ 47’’ E, 270 m a.s.l., 25.11.2005, Domina, PAL.

Euphorbia meuselii Mazzola & Raimondo stat. & nom. nov. [Based on Euphorbia amyg-
daloides subsp. arbuscula Meusel in Wiss. Z. Martin-Luther-Univ. Halle-Wittenberg,
Math.-Naturwiss. Reihe 18: 134 (1969), non E. arbuscula Balf. fil. in Proc. Roy. Soc.
                 Edinb. 12: 93 (1884); incl. E. amygdaloides var. montana Guss. = E. sylvatica Guss.
                 (1827) non L.].
Populations referring to E. amygdaloides in Italy had been partly treated as its vari-
ety. Meusel (1969) described them as subsp. arbuscula on the basis of their suf-
frutescent habit. Indeed the nanophanerophytic life form is prevailing in this popula-
tion whose distribution is homogeneous and geographically separate from that of E.
amygdaloides. Therefore the specfic rank is the most appropriate.

Fraxinus excelsior subsp. siciliensis Ilardi & Raimondo subsp. nov.
Diagnosis – Differt a Fraxinus excelsior s.str. habitu minore et floribus et foliis simul
                 ortis.
It is distinct by the small size and the flowering time which is simultaneous to foliation,
and by its occurrence on incoherent substrata, in the submontane belt.
Holotypus: Monti Nebrodi, alla Tassita di Caronia, Ilardi & Raimondo, 17.4.1998, PAL.
Fumana thymifolia var. barrelieri (Ten.) Giardina & Raimondo comb. nov. [Bas.
Helianthemum barrelieri Ten., Prodr. Fl. Napol.: 31 (1810); Syn. F. thymifolia fo.
barrelieri (Ten.) Grosser; F. viscida var. barrelieri (Ten.) Lojac., Fl. Sicul. 1 (1): 137
                 (1889)].
