Introducing a Cabinet of Curious Tins

Even though I have no taste for tinned tuna, my kitchen cupboard has become like a cabinet

of curiosities in honour of the tinned tunny . These tins have fed my interest and become

objects of analysis into a globally oriented sustainability discourse. Each tin has a story,

which until recently was unlikely to appear on the label. Tuna, salt, water, vegetable oil, tin

and steel are the basic components of most tinned tuna. Through the global production of

these components and their trade and consumption, each tin is deeply involved in the lives of
