                Dry woods on lightly acid ground. – Everywhere on the relievs of Sicily, and at the sea level in
                rocky places. – CC.

              * Quercus minae Lojac., Fl. Sicul. 2 (2): 372 (1904) [Q. ucriae Borzì (1911); Q. vulcani-
                ca Boiss. & Heldr. ex Kotschy var. nebrodensis Borzì (1905)]
                Dry woods. – Probably Q. virgiliana × dalechampii (Brullo & al. 1999).
              * Quercus brachyphylla Kotschy, Eich. Eur. Orients: tab. 9 (1859)
                Dry woods on lightly acid ground. – Aegean anatolic species reported from the Madonie (Tineo)
                (Lojacono 1904), but probably for a misidentification.  A single specimen probably belonging to
                Q. virgiliana according to Brullo & al. (1999).
              103. Quercus amplifolia Guss., Fl. Sicul. Syn. 2 (2): 607 (1845)
                Morphologicaly very variable, often indistinguishable from Q. virgiliana. According to Brullo &
                al. (1999) deserves the specific taxonomic rank. – E – Dry wood on siliceous and carbonate sub-
                strata. – Everywhere on the relieves of Sicily and at the sea level in rocky places. – C.

              104. Quercus dalechampii Ten., Ind. Sem. Horti Neapol. 1830: 15 (1830)
                On siliceous ground between 700 and 1800 m a.s.l. – On the northern reliefs of the island. – C.

              * Quercus robur L., Sp. Pl.: 996 (1753)
                Woods on high water table. – Only near S. Lucia del Mela (Nicotra) (Lojacono 1904). In Pignatti
                (1982), Atlas Fl. Europ. 3: map 301 (1976) and Fl. Europ. 1: 75 (1993), not in Brullo & al. (1999:
                55). To be checked. – R.
              * Quercus frainetto Ten., Fl. Napol. Prodr. 1, Suppl. 2: lxxii (1813)
                Woods on high water table. – Monte S. Venerella (?Di Leo, Nicotra det.) (Lojacono 1904). Only
                one herbarium specimen, to be excluded from Sicily (Brullo & al. 1999).
