Dry woods. – Probably Q. virgiliana × dalechampii (Brullo & al. 1999).

Dry woods on lightly acid ground. – Aegean anatolic species reported from the Madonie (Tineo)
(Lojacono 1904), but probably for a misidentification. A single specimen probably belonging to
Q. virgiliana according to Brullo & al. (1999).
103. Quercus amplifolia Guss., Fl. Sicul. Syn. 2 (2): 607 (1845)
Morphologicaly very variable, often indistinguishable from Q. virgiliana. According to Brullo &
al. (1999) deserves the specific taxonomic rank. – E – Dry wood on siliceous and carbonate sub-
strata. – Everywhere on the relieves of Sicily and at the sea level in rocky places. – C.
